The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level, computer-based entrance exam for admission to the NLUs (National Law Universities) – the collective term given to the top government colleges for law in India. It was established via an MoU signed by the Vice Chancellors of the top seven NLUs to ease out the admission process for these institutes.
CLAT entrance examination is conducted for admission to 17 of the coveted National Law Schools.
Standard XII (10+2) or equivalent examination passed from any recognized board OR equivalent government approved diploma (10+3) with minimum 45% marks for Gen,OBC,PIO (40% marks for Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes).
No upper age limit for CLAT.
Syllabus for CLAT for UG course is as follows:
• English including comprehension – 40 marks
• General knowledge and Current Affairs – 50 marks
• Elementary mathematics: Numerical ability – 20 marks
• Legal Aptitude – 50 marks
• Logical Reasoning – 40 marks
